Charting Progress: Badges Added And Removed In The Current Program

In 2011, the Girl Scout badge program received a revamp, introducing a binder style badge book with only 7 ‘legacy’ badges to begin with. The new binder style allowed badge requirements to be added and removed. Here you will find the list of badges added and retired since this change.

If you are looking to have your girls earn any of the retired badges, remember ‘once official, always official’. Finding retired badges may be harder, but there are many places online to search. What makes these badges harder to find vs. older ones is the iron-on feature which make them more difficult to remove from used and unwanted vests.

In my shop you can find a custom badge option, and while they won’t look exactly the same, they are similar and in the spirit of the original.
